How to Transfer a Domain Print

  • 0

A domain transfer moves your domain from one registrar to another while keeping the same domain name.

Before Starting a Transfer

Make sure:

  • The domain is not expired or close to expiration.

  • The domain is unlocked and does not have clientTransferProhibited.

  • You have access to the domain's registered email address.

  • You have obtained the domain's EPP/Auth code from your current registrar.

  • The domain meets the transfer requirements of its extension.

Transfer Steps

  1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar.

  2. Obtain the EPP/Auth code.

  3. Start the domain transfer from the new registrar.

  4. Enter the domain name and EPP/Auth code when requested.

  5. Approve the transfer if confirmation is required.

  6. Wait for the transfer to complete.

Important

  • Transferring a domain does not automatically transfer your website or hosting data. Website files, databases, emails, and DNS may need to be migrated separately.

  • Keep your existing hosting active until the website and email services are confirmed to be working after the transfer.

  • Transfer requirements and fees may vary depending on the domain extension.
